Works better than Open Office crashing and trashing hundreds of words. The formatting for the text (italics, bold, etc) are headache-free. I plan to create a military-themed workspace to match my novel :) I actually feel like I'm writing a novel for once! And I didn't even have to go from page to page, hah! Moreover, as I'm writing a novel that's meant to actually be published (it's for a talent-search competition), I matched the width of the writing space to that of an A5-paged novel.

Guess what? I get to tweak them to exactly that. When I started out, I wasn't used to the font, which was the only thing I like about open office and microsoft office. Most of the time, all I really need is the writing space. You could minimize everything, and maximize them only when you need them. The simple GUI and anti-distraction scheme does work, at least for me. Basically, these are the reasons why I'm still sticking to it: I'm still using it, and as of now, I'm just a day away from clocking in 100 hours on it (I write 1000 words a day, which should translate to about 2-3 hours a day). $10, after all, is an acceptable loss to me, and what greater way to spend it than to experiment with different softwares for writing? I bought Nimble Writer without any positive expectations. It's not flawless - I did have a (mostly) empty file get corrupted when I tried to save it - but if you don't like Ommwriter and don't want to spend that much for Scrivener, this is a very sensible alternative.

At the end of the day, the software is just supposed to make you want to write more. Don't let any jackass on Steam tell you that you need Scrivener to be a good writer. Nimble Writer is for writers in the middle or for people who just want cloud support. Ommwriter is especially great for writers who are easily distracted, but it's bare bones. However, most of us don't need and won't use a lot of Scrivener's features.

If you're a professional writer, $40 for Scrivener is a pittance.

Nimble Writer has more features than Ommwriter, less than Scrivener, and Microsoft Word is overpriced garbage. I'm not really sure what some Steam users were expecting. Microsoft Word: $6.99/mo or 139.99 for unlimited access to the whole Microsoft Office Suite Nimble Writer isn't a perfect piece of writing software, nor does it have to be.
